-Built relationships with customers in the community, vendors, and colleagues-Led a team of four service leads and 14 cashiers-Coached performance to quality customer-service standards-Scheduled staff, ensuring strict compliance with Seattle’s guidelines and company requirements, and adequate staffing for store traffic-Responsible for tills and cash vaultGained experience in opening a new store, and building its success in a new market. However, when the company was acquired by Good Food Holdings, they already had a grocery store partner operating in the Seattle metropolitan area — and New Seasons closed the Seattle-area locations so as not to compete. Having just purchased a house, I was unable to relocate to the Portland-area. As a result, I regrettably also have experience closing a retail location.

As Trainer I welcomed Verity's new hires, giving them the tools and resources to perform their job at a high-level. For all staff, I served as an advocate for lifelong learning and development, both inside the CU Movement and in life.As Silver-Lining Specialist I sought to help others feel optimistic and confident to explore the opportunities that exist in every situation. Whether it's through identifying creative solutions to problems, or providing additional perspective, I believe that there is always a way to get through any situation and emerge smiling, closer to who we are driven to be.(2015 Accomplishment) Led project team to convert our intranet from an unworkable solution to a solution that best met the needs of our organization. Developed the content management strategy, style guides, and coordinated the conversion and update of existing content. Staff engagement with the intranet is markedly higher than the earlier solution, and with the conversion there is a decline in new hires reporting an inability to find needed policies and procedures in their 90-day stay interviews.
I provided reliable, values-driven service to members at our Beacon Hill branch. There was more to my role as a Member Service Representative than simply making transactions for Verity's members; within my role, I sought to be a consistent, pleasant part of my team, and provided support to my colleagues in achieving their goals while accomplishing my own. I welcomed feedback and adapted my behaviors as necessary, and encouraged my colleagues to be involved in the quest to meet our personal and professional goals.Concurrently, I worked within Verity's Online Services Department as an intern for nine months in 2010. I was recognized as an asset to the department through the conversion to our new Online Branch, and in providing reliable back-up support in member correspondence.I've also sought to minimize the geographical distance between Verity employees by forming a culture committee with four of my colleagues, organizing morale events outside of work hours. We steadily increased participation (and morale!), while remaining under budget.
For 10 weeks I was an editorial intern at Sasquatch Books. My primary tasks involved reading and reviewing unsolicited submissions, and managing the rejections. Over the course of my internship, I spent a great deal of time working on a 3rd Edition book project -- updating the index, using InDesign and Illustrator to update the map graphics, and doing a light copy-edit on the text. It was an immeasurably valuable experience.
Planned and directed the Fall 2008 Session. The accomplishment I am most proud of was planning and executing the season-ending Winter Wonder Run/Walk 5k; all proceeds benefit the Girls on the Run program, allowing it to maintain its financial health. More than 200 people participated; which was a wonderful turn-out for a 5k put together in under eight weeks.
In my third year with WECU, I served as Administrative Assistant to the CFO, where I had the opportunity to sit in on the Assets and Liability Management meetings. Though there in an administrative context (preparing agendas, and taking detailed minutes) it was an excellent opportunity to listen and learn about developing a strong strategy and business model.Responsibilities were primarily administrative as mentioned above, but I also provided back-up support on many entry-level accounting responsibilities.
I moved to WECU's Holly Office as vault teller, and quickly transitioned to the role of Assistant Teller Services Manager, a new role created for me by my manager. I was responsible for the main branch vault, managing a staff of 17 (performance management, reviews, scheduling, recruiting), and balancing 11 off-site ATMs. Additionally, I'd step up as needed to ensure service levels were maintained both on the teller line and on the Member Services (consumer loans, new accounts) side.
WECU provides "Legendary Member Service" to its members, and is a full-service financial institution. My emphasis was on Member Service, beginning as a teller at the Birchwood branch. While there, I was trained by our vault teller on how to balance and manage the vault, serving as a back-up vault teller when needed.
