My job entails managing the Polity.org.za website, through the sourcing of various written content, as well as multimedia content, and ensuring that these are consistently posted on the website. This content includes political news articles (original and from wires), opinion and legal pieces, reports and multimedia pieces, and these are all managed and posted on a daily basis.I manage a team of journalists and I also write original content for the website. In terms of managing the journalists, I assign leads and edit the original copy and reworked press releases generated by the Polity reporters. I also manage the schedule/calendar of the company's videographer, and Polity's Twitter account. I manage all multimedia content for the website, from video scripts to studio production to publishing on the website and promoting on Twitter. This includes weekly in-house productions and video interviews with political authors, directors, and South African personalities.I am responsible for creating and scheduling the daily newsletter, as well as sending out news alerts to Polity subscribers.On occasion, I liaise with the sales team on relevant leads. I report directly to the CEO.

My job included generating and compiling copy for the magazines, researching companies/products and interviewing sources, attending media briefings, conferences, events, etc.I also sourced pictures and directed the photographer, generated multimedia content for the online magazines, conducted video interviews for the online magazine, dealt with sources for factual verification. I had to find angles for stories to fit specific features, while adhering to strict deadlines. I liaised with public relations and communications specialists, restructured press releases, proofread copy.

My tasks were to produce articles/story ideas of a political, social and economical nature for the weekly publication. I attended municipal, business and social events, as well as press briefings. I took my own photographs and liaised with the community, municipal officials and various other organisational representatives.
