Sally Ashworth is the Executive Director of Visit Lake Norman. A veteran in the Lake Norman and Charlotte regional hospitality markets, Sally oversees the operations of Visit Lake Norman and the Lake Norman Visitors Center.Ashworth has spent more than twenty years in the hospitality industry representing several hotel properties in North & South Carolina. Her extensive experience includes serving as the Corporate Director of Sales representing Courtyard by Marriott, Hampton Inn, Sheraton Hotel, Comfort Inn, The Whitney Hotel, Best Western, Holiday Inn, Country Suites, and Candlewood Suites.She served on the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors from 1997-2002 and served as the first Chairman of the Lake Norman Convention & Visitors Bureau which was created in 2001 by the Lake Norman Chamber to capitalize on the Lake Norman region’s opportunity to position itself as a premier destination for leisure, sports, and business travel.Ashworth, a graduate of Marshall University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education is the president of Destination Marketing Association of North Carolina and serves on the Board of the North Carolina Department of Commerce - Travel & Tourism. She also serves on the Board of the Charlotte Regional Sports Commission and has served for the past six years on the Board of the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority.She is a graduate of the Leadership Lake Norman program, a member of Destination Marketing International and a Certified Destination Management Executive with the Purdue University CFS Office of Professional Development.Sally is an active member of the North Mecklenburg Rotary Club and the Lake Norman Kiwanis Club.
