Even long before I got published my first paper article as a school student, I knew that my path would go as a writer and as an activist. Since, then I had been earning qualifications and improving my skills towards the kind of personality I wanted to be one day, merging the literary writer, social critic, journalist, and the activist. That’s why I opted to gain an LLB as my academic qualification and practiced writing, getting published several articles in පන්නරය feature of ඉරිදා ලංකාදීප. And just after my A Levels I began volunteering for Sinhala Wikipedia by translating articles, and after being the Winner of the Vidusara Science Fiction Competition held in Memory of Arthur C. Clarke, I got the greatest oppurtunity ever towards my achievement, to work with Vidusara Science Magazine, as a freelance writer, which helped me to improve my skills in Journalism and Science Communication. And also I got appointed by the Ministry of Justice, as a sworn Translator for English and Sinhala languages, after being qualified from the written examination held for the purpose, after working for more than a year as an assistant to a Sworn Translator earning an expertise in translating legal documents. However, since I did not believe in a Journalist career which does not link with a sociopolitical vision and a passionate activism based on that vision, I did choose the Sexuality Education in Sri Lanka, as my individual project for AL, and researched international guidelines, research papers on stakeholders’ perspectives allowing me to gain an insight regarding the issue, and I began my own activism (since I did not receive any opportunity to work with an INGO) by creating the Facebook page සංස්කෘතියට කසපහර for combating puritanism and to shift attitudes on sexual rights and gender issues, and later I submitted some of my suggestions for SRE in Sri Lanka for FPA Sri Lanka in a personal correspondence. While my choices and achievements may seem to you as unrelated and not directed towards a certain job position, perhaps some of you may already have an understanding smile.
