As a Research Assistant, I have spent the last year assisting Dr. Gordon Lovegrove and his team of graduate students in the Sustainable Transport Safety Research Laboratory (STS) at UBCO. The main project I have worked on is a collaboration with the University of British Columbia Vancouver, Medical Faculty involving the correlation between motorist vehicle speed and accidents. The project involves analyzing several segments of major roads in the Southern BC corridor. Weather, topographic, vehicle, and road design data was collected from multiple sources and is being used to conclude if speed limit increases correlate to an increase in accidents. The project requires thorough use of several software programs, including: Arc GIS, Matlab, and Microsoft Excel. My role primarily consists of analyzing weather data from The Ministry of Transportation and Environment Canada using Arc GIS and Microsoft Excel. The purpose is to allocate any variances other then speed that could cause accidents.

Compile Pressure Test packages and Back-fill packages. Process Requests for Information and Engineers Change Notice's. Receive and review Nondestructive and visual pipeline Examination records. Read Electrical and Mechanical P&ID and Lay Out Drawings. Compile survey packages for both electrical and pipeline trenches. Continuously communicate and work with the Inspectors, Surveyors, Engineers, Coordinators, and Project Managers to meet deadlines and completion dates.

Conduct pre-shift training with staff to ensure everyone is prepared and well informed for their shift as well as manage the team of staff during and post dinner service. Accountable for the training of new serving and bartending staff. Preform effectively and quickly in a fast paced environment. Appointed by senior management to improve the productivity, sales and workmanship of the employees.

Safely operated and supervised mechanical dispensing equipment. Executed preventative maintenance and routine cleaning of all production equipment. Involved with packaging, shipping and delivery of the product.

Acquired the skills and ability to safely operate large farm and industrial equipment as well as drive and maneuver long haul trailers. Involved in the routine maintenance and repair of equipment. Operated and became skilled in various metal and woodshop tools. Looked after livestock, ensuring the regular feeding, cleaning and health of the animals.
