Our goal is to understand how Wnt signalling controls cell growth and differentiation at molecular, cell and tissue level, with a focus on the mammary gland. As part of my PhD work I am currently working as a visiting scholar at NIH - performing genetic screens to identify novel regulators of WNT/CTNNB1 signaling in the lab of Andres Lebensohn. Stichting Studiebegeleiding Leiden (SSL) trains high school students in their last year for their final exams. The responsibilities of a assistent teacher are to monitor the pupils, answer their questions and give them the skills they need to pass their exams.

I taught pupils in different subjects (i.e. english, physics and chemics) and from different levels (i.e. VWO 1-6 and HAVO 1-5).

For my second master internship I worked at BioEmergences (in the Centre national de la recherche scientifique) with Nadine Peyriéras. I studied the formation of a secondary embryonic axis under the influence of nodal signaling using advanced 3D+t fluorescence microscopy.

Under the supervision of Dr Sebo Withoff I wrote a review on the role of the innate immune system in Celiac Disease, from which I suffer myself.

L.S.K.O Collegium Musicum is a student orchestra and choir of around 150 members. As chairwoman of the board I was responsable for contact with the two professional conductors, the university, concert halls and churches. Together with the rest of the board we organized two concert series in the Netherlands and the week to week rehearsals and activities.

During my work at Marente, an elderly home in Oegstgeest, I helped the staff with house keeping jobs. If time allowed it, I would take some of the residents out for a walk in the park or stayed with them for a chat.

During my time at Libertas Leiden, an elderly home in Leiden, I helped the staff with serving al meals to the residents. It was very important to me to try and get to know the residents personally. It was really nice to make a difference, by just knowing the amount of sugar in someones tea or bringing someone their favourite cookie.
