Hello, I am Jonathan Sasser and I am a Consultant - PJM at Customized Energy Solutions. At CES, I am a specialist in PJM's energy, capacity, and ancillary service markets and provide coverage on PJM's stakeholder process. I previously worked for PJM Interconnection in the Philadelphia area. At PJM, I specialized in the analysis of the natural gas industry, gas-electric industry coordination, power plant economics, gas infrastructure adequacy, inter-industry operational coordination, gas pricing, plant level financial hedging, and physically and financially settled derivative products. In addition, I was also involved in several products related to energy storage, demand response, electric vehicles, electricity based derivative products, and the analysis of PJM and non-PJM based derivative transactions. In my other previous experience, I worked in finance on the sell-side as a Financial Advisor for Merrill Lynch and as an independent trader. My primary focus in both positions was on hedging and risk reduction. I heavily utilized exchange traded derivatives to offset client positions and my own positions to meet specific needs and goals. I also became skilled in fundamental asset valuation, credit analysis and the development of asset management/trading systems that maximized risk adjusted return. With this experience, I was able to, in my own portfolio, outperform the market throughout 2009-2011, beating my benchmark annually with lower inherent portfolio risk.
