My work at CDS has involved working on product teams in an agile framework. I also interviewed candidates (both developers as well as other disciplines), participated in drafting internal policy and procedures, and gave numerous talks and tutorials both inside and outside CDS. In particular I helped create a training workshop on recognizing and dealing with unconscious bias in the workplace.

Designing and implementing cross platform (Windows/Mac/Linux/Android/iOS) educational software using Python and Swift. Our Kasuku Learning System was a semi finalist in the Global Learning X Prize competition.

My work at Shopify included finding appropriate credit card rates for Shopify Payments, developing key performance indicators for Shopify Shipping, building tools to find suitable customers for Shopify Capital, and using machine learning to create a credit card fraud detection system to protect all of Shopify's customers. Accomplishing these projects involved data ETL, analysis, and visualization, using a variety of tools and techniques including SQL, PySpark, MLLib, scikit-learn, Tableau and Mode.

My work has involved several areas of cryptography and cryptanalysis, as well as network security and cyber defence. Many projects have also required developing and applying machine learning techniques to the large data sets at hand. Although theory played an important role, implementing my results on our high performance computing platforms was key. This often required detailed expertise in parallel programming, where balancing network activity, memory usage and CPU load was crucial.
