Changing the practices in philanthropy have become my passion and purpose. Funding great work should not be as difficult as we've made it. And equitable practices should not be an afterthought: They should be baked into a funder's policies, practices, systems and grantmaking strategies. My career has focused on issues impacting communities of colors, children and families. My career spans work within nonprofits, corporate foundation, community relations, and private philanthropy. I have earned progressively expanding roles and responsibilities often through successful implementation of special projects that required my leadership in developing innovative strategies, sustainable procedures and best practices within philanthropy. More than anything, I focus on the people doing the work. Supported, developed staffs do amazing work and contribute to building sustainable partnerships in the process. People first. Live our values. There has been a thread of work focused on race, equity and inclusion and I have led and contributed to a myriad of initiatives in this area at the enterprise level. I have managed training and development for staff and external partners with an emphasis on outcomes and operational efficiencies. I actively participate in forums on philanthropy that deepen my knowledge of practices and trends in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors. In 2013, I successfully completed the Career Pathways Pipeline Expansion Program, a competitively selected executive leadership class offered by the Council on Foundations. I recently became a Change Management Practitioner through Prosci® and serve on the boards of PEAK Grantmaking, the Technology Association for Grantmakers (TAG) and Maryland Philanthropy Network.
