Emirates NBD Bank PJSC is Dubai's government-owned bank and is one of the largest banking groups in the Middle East in terms of assets.I’m part of Engineering Platform (IaaS - Infrastructure As a Service) leading Storage & Backup Platform team consists of 6 Technology Engineers.Here we design, build and manage our own private cloud based on x86 distributed architecture with cloud natives open-source platforms and tools.Achievements:- Consolidated ten different dual-controller scale-up silos of SAN block arrays deep consolidated in just two arrays (Enterprise NvMe AFA) this reduced the TCO drastically and price per TB also brought down by 70%.- Re-Platformed Bank’s file-servers to latest generation of NAS array. Closely 1500+ users benefited directly with self-restore capability with version control. we achieved this complex migration (450TB User Data, 150million Files & 60k NT Permissions) with no impact to user services.- Executed an initiative for storage reclamation which achieved 235TB of block SAN storages worth of ~2.4m AED cost avoidance in the span of 18months efforts. We achieved this with various methodologies (Zero-Reclamation, ASRU (ASM Reclamation Utility), No IO devices, Re-shuffling workloads for effective DRR (Data Reduction Ratio).Responsibilities:- Managing ~15PB of data in various SLAs with assurance to availability & Integrity.- Accountable for Cloud Management Portal storage services offerings.- PaaS & Enterprise Data Platform Infrastructure Requirements.- Building new capabilities for enhance user experience and agility to deliver business demand.- Responsibility for audits, compliance & fulfilling regulatory requirements of the governing body. Rendering a stable and sustainable continuity of storage and storage network architectures and providing the foundation for centralized storage systems, providing production support for all normal & emergency storage hardware break-fixes. Monitoring Storage response time to ensure the effective data transfer for fast transactions for OLTP [Online Transaction Processing Database Systems]Manage complete data backup operation for all heterogeneous systems this includes scheduling & monitoring and performing all backup requests. And handling all kind of data restores in case of data corruption or data loss. Also managing tape library, media management with retention & vaulting as per compliance regulations. Automating backups with scripting using bash & shell to execute the backups within given backup schedule window.Manage Storage based data replication for block/file based technologies and ensuring data availability & integrity in the remote site. Conduct routine DR (Disaster Recovery) drill to test the readiness for fail-over of the systems to the secondary site in case of failure/disaster in the production site. Managing the data traffic links across sites with FCIP, WAN [Wide Area Network] via MPLS could and monitor the long distance links closely for any delay, utilization and response time.From July 2011 To Sep 2014, worked under Dicetek LLC., Payroll.
