Functional areas include Labour Compliance, Health & Safety, Environmental Sustainability, Supply Chain Security & Brand Protection. Perform Compliance brand support role for two renowned apparel brands in USA on behalf of their production facilities based in Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia & Vietnam. Works as the prime mover for Women Empowerment programmes implemented by vendors and connected with global programmes such as RISE, Better Work, Works on the UFLPA/AAFA updates and Cotton traceability in the supply chain, keeping a close connection with Fabric mills. Handled US Customs Border Protection required documents for detained shipments due to nexus with XUAR region.

Scope of Work - Legal & Compliance

Colombo

•Preparing, examining and advising on contracts of sale, supplier agreements and license documents for businesses.•Take primary responsibility for correspondence, transactional documents, with minimal review by the Company Lawyer.•Carrying out title search, drafting Deeds, Lease Agreements, and other legal documents and firsthand experience in Conveyancing.•Interviewing relevant parties to determine the nature of issues, and receiving written information concerning cases from Legal Professionals and clients.•Negotiate with banks regarding Loan facilities, Mortgage Bonds and enlighten them on issues regarding property and other documents. Review and advice on Banking facilities such as Over Drafts, Term Loans, Letter of Credits for foreign and local suppliers.•Negotiate with the Lawyers and represent the company with employees in Magistrate courts/ Police/ Consumer affairs authority, etc. regarding numerous matters.•Liaising with BOI and other Local authorities for obtaining licenses and approval for various matters (Local authorities namely Municipal/ Urban Councils, Divisional Secretariats, NWSDB, TRC, ROC, Tourist Board, RDA, UDA, and Heads of Police etc.)•Work closely with the Company lawyer, Surveyors, Company Secretary, Attorneys, Accountants, Auditors, Merchandising and imports department pertaining to various matters

•Consult clients regularly to provide advice on immigration rules and regulations, Employ professionals in Australia and New Zealand in consistent with the U.A.E. immigration and emigration requirements, Drafting contracts between clients and the company based on the labour rules.•Assess and process an allocated caseload of individual cases by using judgment, intellectual ability and initiative and manage them autonomously, making broadly independent decisions about cases and priorities. •Negotiate with Assessing Authorities to achieve compliance with the relevant legislation and communicate matters arising out of casework that are suitable for further action by the Migration consultants/lawyers. •Proactively develop legislative expertise, keeping abreast of developments in Immigration Department’s legislation and regulations.
