Proud to have been a direct and significant contributor of this stellar success.Was one of the 4 founding members of the Department with a transformation mandate for the face of Dubai Tourism. At the end of 25-year tenure (2014), tourist arrivals stood at 11 million+. Had overall P and L responsibility and directly oversaw functions including Finance, Information Technology, Global Offices, General Management, Operations, Administration and HR. Outcome focused, set aggressive, non-traditional target metrics which helped created the all-round development:- Tourist experiences/destinations (one of its kind)- Nurture niche MICE / ICE event properties(annual)- Sectoral GDP, specifically Real Estate- Promotion as a destination IT - Capacity building / skilling- New entity registrations / inbound capital (in Freezones)- Net additions to hotel room capacity across segments- Physical presence events / offices globallyAll this was achieved with a startup mindset and on tight / frugal budgets with a focus on execution quality. Was managing a P & L of AED 300 million towards the end of the tenure. Key initiative and success factors:• Delivered the first (in the region) website for a tourism board agency as early as 1995.• In 1998, created an early stage in house travel booking engine. It generated leads for online room booking centrally hosted by the department.• Led the team that conceptualized and created the Definitely Dubai campaign, website including a mobile app way back in 2010.• Created a multilingual capacity building digital initiative online for travel agencies in 22 countries called dubaiexpert.com • As we transitioned to a full department status was responsible for set up of the finance, procurement, IT, administration and security• End to end responsibility for envisioning and setting up a global network of 18 offices worldwide. Responsible for choice of locations, setup and RoI.• Built teams for various projects and for the Department over the years with an eye for picking, managing and nurturing talent.Overall career includes private sector exposure with varied industries including, Construction Engineering, Electronics and Pharmaceuticals. Involved in various roles and initiatives which were commercial contributing/critical apart as well taking responsibility for operations including Finance.
