I helped the founders with their business plan, strategy, fund raising and customer contacts. The company was finally acquired by Microsoft in July 2019.

My responsibilities including setting direction for Lenovo Research by allocating funding to projects and providing technical direction. This included working on projects that supported the business units, as well creating new businesses for Lenovo. I also worked with Lenovo's businesses in their business strategy, product portfolios and long term direction.

Working with Xyratex Business Units with Strategic Direction and Technical Execution. This work involved working with both the Storage Systems team and the ClusterStor team on the strategy and execution of their businesses. Also worked with the Senior Management to orchestrate strategic choices for the company which resulted in the sale of the company to Seagate.

Responsible for all of IBM’s Systems Hardware products – Servers (Mainframe, Unix, x86, Blades), Storage (DS8000, XIV, V7000, SVC, Tape) and Networking (Fiber Channel and Ethernet). Durng this five year time frame the whole IBM hardware portfolio was transformed for growth and future oriented technologies and use cases. It has resulted in IBM growing hardware revenue, profit and increasing its contribution to the IBM business model.Launched the Z10 and Z196 which is allowing IBM mainframes to resume growth. Power 7 systems allowed IBM to gain share in the Unix marketplace and achieve greater than 50% share. The X5 based products have allowed IBM to become #1 in high end x86 servers. BlueGene and P7IH have allowed IBM to remain the leader in High Performance Technical Computing. In the Storage portfolio, a combination of acquisitions (XIV and Diligent) and organic innovation (V7000 and SVC) have allowed IBM to grow faster than the market. As Networking becomes more important to systems, we have to used a combination of organic growth, acquisitions and partnerships to boost IBM’ networking capabilities. Conceived and launched the new IBM PUREFlex system in April 2012. This product was built ground up including a new chassis, new blades, new switches, integrated storage and new software to manage it as a integrated virtualized infrastructure.
