Fruits and vegetables are also perishable stuff and they taste great when they are fresh. Globally, the average loss of perishable stuff is ~50% (nearly 1.6 trillion USD) during storage. Refrigeration, the most prevalent storage technique, will slow down the decay and ripening time but refrigeration comes at a cost. Vegetables and fruits lose their taste due to prolonged refrigeration. Jaivahini Organics has developed a new product (VeggieP) that improves the shelf life of fruits and vegetables by 7 days to 25 days without refrigeration. VeggieP along with refrigeration will further increase the shelf life of vegetables/fruits/other plant produce correspondingly.

Accomplishments Led the Process Intensification Laboratory expansion initiatives in SABIC, Bangalore Developed a novel, “S&QbD” (safety and quality by design) methodology for SABIC R&D and introduced it for process development of one of the top polymer products of SABIC.  Designed and fabricated a novel tubular flow, a process intensified reactor for managing safe oxidation reactions using both air and oxygen on pilot plant and commercial-scale operations. Successfully led a team involved in the development of end-to-end, process-intensified technology (lab technology) for one of the polymers, which was invented by GE/SABIC. SABIC is the global leader in this polymer.  Led the team that had conceptualized the process based on which, experiments were performed. There has been a total CAPEX reduction of 63% and OPEX reduction of 30% based on process design calculations. The process would give an annualized cost benefit of more than 100 million US dollars once commercialized. Was head of the “API Team” involved in the process development of 4 APIs (two in-house and two outsourced) for NUSANED, which is a SABIC company. Led a team, which had developed a novel crystallization process for metallocene that had given a cost advantage of more than 30% for the process.  Submitted 5 patent disclosures along with other inventors, for the novel processes developed that gave a distinct cost advantage of a minimum of 10%, compared to the old or running commercial processes.
