Ben is passionate about design and enjoys the challenge of finding an elegant solution that fulfils tight design constraints. Since obtaining his Bachelor of Engineering degree from Australia in 2003, Ben has refined his design skills working in various settings alongside talented design professionals. He has a diverse range of design experience using 3D CAD and other analysis software.“Independent of the project or industry, a successful outcome is based on good communication,” says Ben, “listening to the customer and understanding their needs.”Ben has worked on projects ranging from the design of small vacuum chamber based test instrumentation for the gas separation industry through to heavy equipment for the mining industry. “Each project is unique and it gives immense satisfaction to dig through fundamentals when necessary and apply new knowledge to a design problem,” says Ben.“Ben has demonstrated his ability to quickly grasp complex technical issues,” says Process Testing Group manager Andrea Gibbs of QuestAir Technologies, “he investigates the root causes of problems and quickly creates innovative solutions.”Senior Design Engineer Danny Smith says, “During his time at RME, Ben was responsible for entire projects, utilizing design tools such as SolidWorks 3D, and Finite Element Analysis using Cosmos. Ben demonstrated his ability to combine inventiveness and creativity with solid design practices to solve difficult design problems in a timely manner. He is self-motivated and uses effective time management to help an entire team meet scheduled requirements.”
