This requires significant leadership of change to introduce and maintain international standards of safety and quality in a developing country with a diverse range of cultures between local labourers and tradesmen and expatriate supervisors and engineers.

Bowen Basin / Mackay Region, Qld, Australia

◊ Manage the major project construction division in the demanding Central Queensland region. Responsibilities included providing leadership in safety in the predominant coal mining focussed market, management of company human resources and sub-contractor portfolio and upholding company quality standards and maintain business competitiveness in a high cost, low margin commercial environment.◊ Management of the development and execution of a major upgrade of the Hail Creek Coal Mine industrial area. Scope included design and construction of heavy mining equipment service facilities, lubricant storage and distribution systems and administration offices.

Peak Downs Mine, Bowen Basin, Qld , Australia

◊ Management of the development and delivery of sustaining mine infrastructure projects using a range of delivery modes including EPCM, direct contracting and in-house delivery. Responsibilities included managing a team of project managers, engineers and mining operations stakeholders to deliver mine sustainment projects in accordance with individual mine development plans, corporate engineering and mining industry safety standards.

Project Scope included design and development of major regional infrastructure hub for field exploration and development operations.◊ Project requirements necessitated compliance with emphasis on integration with the requirements of the Oil and Gas industry safety and environmental standards. This also included the development of coal seam waste water storage remediation solutions in line with emerging environmental standards.

◊ Manage the strategic development, design and delivery of infrastructure for the centralisation to a host country Air Base location of Australian Defence Support Assets in the Middle East including command, logistics, aircraft maintenance, camp and power generation infrastructure. ◊ The project required liaison with host country authorities, major EPCM organisations, local construction contractors and international military stakeholders.
