About Saul Delabrida
I have 14+ years of experience in computer science or related courses, most time dedicated to projects, researches related to mobile computing. Currently, I'm an adjunct professor at the Federal University of Ouro Preto in Brazil, where I play the role of XR4Good Lab coordinator. Together with my researchers' partners and students, we focus on developing innovation related to wearable devices and mixed reality applications. Usually, our solutions are evaluated with main UI/UX techniques applied for user studies. Techniques such as machine learning, computer vision are also considered in our work. Our main results are focused on industry (4.0 towards 5.0), people with disabilities, and other general health purposes. Our results are reproduced as academic papers, technical reports, or patents.HIGHLIGHTS AND INTERESTS • +3 years of experience conducting user evaluation studies according to local ethics committee • +3 years of experience leading research projects with undergraduate, masters, and Ph.D. students• +6 years of experience conducting research projects’ budgets and the lab staff• +4 years of experience with C/C++/C#, Python, Unity, computer vision, machine learning or wearable devices• 5+ years of experience in embedded platform prototyping (e.g Arduino, Raspberry and others)• Experience with industry and academic projects resulted in industry utilization• Ability for remote collaboration• Experience conducting university courses based on problem-based learning methodology using user-centered design, games, mixed reality as main techniques• I am involved with the HCI community as peer reviewer of paper, master’s thesis, and doctoral dissertation• I am author of more than 30 papers, 3 patents a book edition, some of them as primary author, other as student supervisor or collaborator• I am founder of a startup in Brazil• Interested in brain computer interaction, human body signals recognition and investigation of novel AR/VR interfaces toward the human integration (Not limited to this list)I'm interested in problems able to be investigated under a user-centered design approach.
