I have been working with Artificial Intelligence since 1999 after completing my master's thesis in Rehabilitation Robotics. At that time I used to develop Java code to test new ideas in Machine Learning, like text classification and detection of causal relationships using genetic programming systems. Very, very good times!During my academic life that followed, I taught fundamentals of data structures and programming, always on a strong object-oriented basis, and artificial intelligence, with a focus on Machine Learning, which led to my PhD in Bioinformatics, in which I created a biologically-inspired metric to compare samples of large scale gene expression data produced by GeneChips experiments. In addition, I supervised many undergraduate works applying Machine Learning models. Finally, I taught Software Engineering, which made me learn about integrating AI software development into the traditional software development cycle.I really love to investigate new possibilities and code to test their viability. I love to play with machine learning models and data. It's amazing to run evolutionary programs (GA, GP) fed with data and to evaluate the models too! And it's really great to teach the tools to other people.
