Saum Idd is a journalist and storyteller who believes stories have the power to change the world. To make this dream a reality she has had the pleasure of meeting and working with incredible people and organizations to tell credible, authentic stories about their work and efforts through human interest feature stories, developments documentaries and films. She's passionate about communication and understanding what organizations and companies are doing to make the world a better place by adapting innovative and more human-centered products and services.These organizations include United States Agency for International Development (USAID), African Union (AU) led by implementing partners such as Development Alternatives Inc (DAI) and brands such as Scania, Unilever, Kenya Airways and Shell through agencies such as Ogilvy and Fat Rain Films. Saum's specialty in print journalism entails providing journalism services such as feature writing, reporting, producing, writing for publications- both offline and online and digital storytelling. She has worked as a production manager for documentaries, films (including student films), television commercials and photography content for clients in need of video production services. Saum has technical skills in production management, script writing, videography, photography and project management. A big part of her career centers around three areas; social change, storytelling and youth advocacy. Saum has worked with like-minded organizations to champion for education, youth empowerment and storytelling for advocacy. Such partners include Re-tuning Cinema in Africa, The International School of Kenya, Nairobi International School and Reaching Out with Compassion in Kibera (ROCK).Saum has grow as a storyteller including: 2021 Mandela Washington Fellowship in Public Management Track at Syracuse University, Ashoka 2020 leading social entrepreneurs, Filamujuani film scholarship, Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK), Akili Dada fellowship and Zanzibar Film Festival.Saum has been in feminism and women in leadership spaces with Organizations such as We Are Purposeful, Akili Dada and She's The First to push for stories for girls and young women from marginalized and rural communities. She's also worked as a part time lecturer at Africa Digital Media Institute. Saum is a graduate of Journalism and mass communication from The Technical University of Kenya and is continuously improving her skills with Goldman Sachs, Young African Leadership Initiative, Philanthropy University and Columbia Global Art Centre.
