In October 2024, John became Chairman of FleishmanHillard having been President and Chief Executive Officer for previous nine years. Had been President of firm's EMEA business prior to that. Regularly invited to speak on communications related topics. Countries where he has undertaken speaking engagements include Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Iceland, India, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Switzerland, Turkey, UK and the United States. Was named Speaker of the Decade at annual Baltic PR Conference in St. Petersburg. Guest speaker at Irish American Business 100 annual lunch New York 2016 and named in Business 100 List each year since. Also spoken at events such as Web Summit in Lisbon and Collision in Toronto. Former President of ICCO - the global association for the public relations industry and was President Public Relations Association of Ireland and is a Fellow of the Public Relations Institute of Ireland. In 2016 and each year since named in PRWeek Magazine's Top 50 Power List.In 2023 was given Lifetime Achievement Award by PRvoke at ceremony in New York.
