Project: Design and development of steering system for formulae student vehicleIn this comprehensive steering system project, we begin by defining the wheel turning angles through scaled geometry and creating multiple CAD layouts to simulate the vehicle's turning radius. We employ LOTUS software to simulate steering and suspension geometry, enabling us to fine-tune Ackerman percentage and dynamic behavior. The design process includes the preparation of CAD drawings for uprights and steering gear assembly, followed by FEA simulations using HYPERMESH. Materials are carefully chosen for steering gear and uprights, and the components are manufactured. The project culminates in rigorous testing and validation of the steering geometry on the actual vehicle to ensure optimal performance and safety.Project: Design and development of Chassis for ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) In the chassis design phase, we begin by rendering the primary design to establish space requirements for critical subsystems like the engine, transmission, steering, suspension, and driver ergonomics. This is followed by the preparation of CAD drawings for the initial chassis design. We continuously refine the structural design based on valuable inputs from subsystem teams such as suspension, engine, and transaxle, focusing on enhancing mounting design and overall rigidity. Rigorous FEA (Finite Element Analysis) is performed, including front-impact, side-impact, rollover, and modal analyses to ensure structural integrity and safety. A DFMEA is conducted to identify and address potential failure modes, ensuring a robust design. Additionally, we prepare fixtures and jigs for chassis manufacturing, streamlining the production process.
