About Saurabh Biswas, Ph.D
Dr. Biswas brings more than two decades of combined experience in medical technology innovation, senior management experience in technology commercialization, deep tech entrepreneurship and venture investment around academic innovations. As Executive Director of Technology Transition, he works closely with the innovators and leaders across the research enterprise to provide strategic leadership of technology translation activities and expand the innovation ecosystem through engagement with federal agencies, business and venture communities in multiple key priority technology domains like healthcare, energy, computing, space and national securityBiswas presently leads a NSF funded Innovation Hub and has been a key participant in National Innovation Network from its inception in 2012 and over the last decade played a leadership role across Texas A&M System and nationally to catalyze an entrepreneurial mind-set among innovators and a framework to accelerate research towards commercialization. As an innovator with 24 patents and an entrepreneur, he has co-founded five health care startups, served in management roles at- formation as CEO, CTO & COO with hands-on involvement in all aspects of team and venture development, product roadmaps and the capital raising process. Biswas has served on several boards and also served as the Principle or Co-Principal Investigator for a number of innovation and entrepreneurship-focused initiatives, has been a peer reviewer for innovation and entrepreneurship awards for federal agencies, and is a frequent speaker at technology-focused events across the country and globally. Biswas holds a doctoral degree in biomedical engineering from Texas A&M University where he was designated as Michael E Debakey Scholar in cardiovascular Sciences and completed the Executive Program in Finance at Sloan School of Management at MIT. Biswas has received many awards as an inventor, founder and for his global leadership role in deep tech innovation ecosystem development and entrepreneurship that includes induction as a Senior Member in National Academy of Inventors, Outstanding Young Alumni at Texas A&M University, and Outstanding Employee Service Award by Texas A&M University System.
