An epidemiologist trained in clinical medicine, I work with CMS Data at Acumen LLC / The SPHERE Institute to study sepsis epidemiology, opioid use disorder, prescription drug payments and more in the US Medicare population. I develop and leverage code for delving deep into gigabytes upon gigabytes of claims data to further our research agenda. I use SAS and Stata to perform these analyses and other data management tasks. I engage with my PIs at biweekly presentations. I am also deeply involved in training and managing new hires, interns and new team members.Previously, I worked with HIV clinical care data at the Positive Health Program, Ward 86 at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General (formerly San Francisco General Hospital) at the University of California San Francisco where I lead the management of a large cohort database of close to 6000 patients with over 5M data rows. I worked with my PI to formulate decisions for extraction, compilation, cleaning, storing of data and most importantly, for their statistical analyses. I used tools in the Stata arsenal to achieve these objectives. In addition, I collaborated with HIV care providers on a regular basis to address their data needs. I was also responsible for maintaining relevant IRB documentation. I am constantly looking to challenge my epidemiology and data skills. Few things give me more joy than revealing a compelling story through data. I am happy to share more about my journey from a clinician back in the day to an epidemiologist now. I have co-authored 8 peer-reviewed publications with over 660 citations to date.
