About Saurin Gandhi

I’m someone who enjoys life through a blend of books, meditation, and deep conversations—whether it's about the mysteries of the universe, the intricacies of spirituality, or even cricket (because who doesn’t love a good cricket debate?). My love for staying updated with the latest news keeps me grounded, and there's nothing like a good read to cap off my day.But let’s rewind a bit to my time at Northeastern University. I found myself drawn to the world of strategy consulting while pursuing my studies. I loved the problem-solving aspect—understanding complex challenges and turning them into actionable insights. It was here that my journey began, and I was fortunate enough to gain valuable experience, working on some fascinating projects. Then came Jab You Met, an unexpected but incredibly exciting opportunity. Now, here's the fun part: during my own search for love (over 100+ prospective brides in the arranged marriage process—yes, you read that right!), I had the unique experience of navigating the traditional matchmaking world, that’s when I dove headfirst into product management. I helped build a dating app that combined the best of both modern dating and old-school matchmaking. While the startup didn’t take off, it solidified my love for creating products that impact lives. So, whether it’s designing project management tools that improve product roadmap tracking or leading the strategic launch of new products across global markets, my passion has always been to combine strategic insights with innovative solutions. Through all of this, I’ve remained driven by the same principles that I bring to every conversation, every project—authenticity, curiosity, and a love for creating meaningful impact. Now, I find myself at the crossroads of strategy and product development, constantly driven by my passion to build things that matter. And while the journey’s been filled with lots of hard work, I always make time to catch up on the latest in the news, find moments of mindfulness, and of course, have a deep chat (with maybe a side of cricket banter).

On one side, there were modern dating apps like CoffeeMeetsBagel that prioritized individual choices and casual dating. On the other, traditional platforms like Shaadi.com catered to families seeking matches for marriage, often overlooking personal preferences. There wasn’t a seamless way to balance both, so we thought, "Why not build an app that bridges these two worlds?" We conceptualized Jab You Met with a mission to blend modern dating with traditional matchmaking. We knew the heart of the product lay in balancing personal freedom with cultural expectations, so we built "Cultural Preferences" as a core feature, ensuring that users could filter matches based on their values and traditions. We even went so far as to engage wedding service providers early on, with the idea that our marketplace could offer not just matches, but the entire wedding planning experience, adding an exciting revenue stream. But of course, we made mistakes along the way. The process of defining the MVP was tricky. We wanted to include too many features, leading to an overwhelming user interface at first. In our initial iterations, we tried to do too much. We aimed for perfection instead of simplicity, and it cost us time. We also underestimated the complexity of cultural sensitivities; while we wanted to make an app that catered to all, our beta tests showed that different communities valued matchmaking processes in very different ways. The most valuable lessons we learned? Simplify. At the heart of any product should be solving a clear problem, and for us, that was balancing individual desires with family expectations. We also learned the importance of user feedback. In the end, while Jab You Met gave us an invaluable experience in product vision, user engagement, and cultural sensitivity. The process, the teamwork, and the challenges all added to our growth as product builders.

While most investors seek out shiny new startups, Swabhav Investments took a different path. We set our sights on small and medium-sized enterprises that were struggling to break through to the next level of growth. It wasn’t just about capital—it was about rolling up our sleeves and helping businesses craft strategies and execute them on the ground.I had the opportunity to be a part of this journey with Techlabs and Biztact Solutions—two projects that shaped my career and taught me the true value of hands-on strategy. At Techlabs, our goal wasn’t just to create another educational platform. We envisioned a self-sustaining ecosystem where students learned through hands-on experience, placed in top-tier companies, and referred new students to us, creating a continuous feedback loop. But the challenge? Our courses were priced higher than the competition, and Techlabs was an unknown brand. We hit roadblocks when even students who had been unemployed for over a year hesitated to join despite assured placements. It took cold calls, outreach to placement cells, and refined course offerings, but we eventually grew from a humble batch of 3 students to running 3 batches of 15-20 concurrently. The team faced disillusionment along the way, and I found myself fostering open conversations and leading training initiatives to rekindle motivation. On the flip side, Biztact Antivirus Solution targeted enterprises with a hardware-based antivirus product. Selling an offline, robust solution in a market dominated by software giants wasn’t easy. But by clustering similar businesses and using references, we managed to break through. My role here focused on developing long-term contracts and offering customized solutions that increased profitability by 55%.Through these experiences, I’ve learned the art of balancing short-term wins with long-term strategy, working with diverse teams, and adapting to challenges. It’s a journey I continue to thrive on.
  • Futurz Global Group
    Strategy Consultant
Futurz Global Group Jan 2012 - Mar 2013
    Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
One of the first projects I tackled was with a precision instruments company that had been in business for over 50 years but was struggling to reach the next level of growth. The market was flooded with unbranded knock-offs, and customers couldn't tell the difference between genuine products and counterfeits. To address this, my team and I rebranded the company as "Yuzuki" and introduced QR codes to ensure product authenticity. We also modernized their presence by expanding into online channels like IndiaMart and Amazon, helping them gain new customers in a traditionally unorganized industry. Our efforts paid off, as we increased their market share by 23%, improved inventory turnover by 40%, and reduced the money receiving timeline by 33%.Next, I worked with a solar bulb manufacturer whose potential was constrained by underutilized manufacturing capacity. The prohibitive costs of their products made it difficult for new retailers to meet their monthly inventory requirements. After conducting extensive research, we realized that the company needed to offer more support to budding entrepreneurs, providing leads and gradually increasing order sizes to help them grow. We also recommended diversifying their product range to make the most of their existing capacity, which helped the company better meet government standards and secure more orders.Lastly, I had the opportunity to enhance the medical tourism experience for a leading cardiac hospital in Mumbai. Our goal was to create a world-class experience for international patients, many of whom were visiting India for life-saving treatments. We introduced services like telemedicine follow-up, airport transfers, multilingual staff, and cultural sensitivity for families. By offering these personalized services, the hospital was able to strengthen its reputation and provide a seamless, stress-free experience for patients and their families.

When I was tasked with managing regulatory submissions for over 40 molecules across the APAC region, I knew it was going to be a challenge. Not only were we dealing with regulatory heads from companies like Pfizer and Aurobindo, but there were also conflicting timelines and cultural differences to navigate. Using MS Project, I collaborated with stakeholders, identified the reasoning behind their deadlines, and brought everyone together to create timelines we could all stick to—and sometimes even beat. I even developed a project management tool that helped us keep tabs on our product roadmap, making the process 25% more efficient. This meant we could see everything clearly and make faster decisions. One of the bigger challenges came with using Pfizer's GDPR software, which was notorious for its complexity. Everyone was struggling, so I decided to simplify things. I created step-by-step guides, complete with screenshots, to help the team avoid errors. It worked, and the team started saving time.Working remotely while our office moved from Boston to Hartford had its own learning curve. It was tough initially, but I soon found myself enjoying the flexibility. I could dive deeper into learning about regulatory requirements, and it also gave me the chance to focus on personal growth—reading, learning, and reflecting. The fast-paced nature of the project meant we were always chasing deadlines, but our team had a clear view of how our work contributed to the bigger picture. Regular check-ins helped us stay on track, and using an agile approach allowed us to manage and improve our processes continuously. Our KPIs included not only timely submissions but also compliance, accuracy, and stakeholder satisfaction. Looking back, it wasn’t just about getting the work done on time—it was about maintaining high quality, staying compliant, and exceeding expectations.
