I am an immigration advocate with 3+ years of experience providing legal services to diverse communities, managing high-volume caseloads, and working within the non-profit sector. I am currently a DOJ Accredited Representative at Dorcas International, where I help immigrants and refugees obtain status and reunite with family members. I graduated summa cum laude from Brandeis University with a double major in Sociology and International Studies and a minor in Hispanic Studies. I received highest departmental honors for my senior honors thesis, which examined the role of interpreters within the US asylum system. This qualitative research project combined analysis from the disciplines of sociology, translation theory, and legal studies to develop an understanding of interpretation as a social process (rather than a transactional or mechanical service) and to identify ways that we can reimagine socio-legal structures in the US to better serve asylum seekers.
