About Savannah Morrison
Empathy | Adaptability | Developer | Positivity | IndividualizationI am a senior at the University of Tennessee studying social work with a minor in political science. I have a passion for welfare, public policy, foster care, and resource accessibility. On campus, I am involved at the Baker School for Public Policy and Public Affairs as an office assistant and am the communication coordinator for their student group, the Baker School Student Association. I was previously the Co-President of Students Promoting Environmental Action in Knoxville (SPEAK), from which I have gained experience in outreach, social media, and volunteering/advocacy for our environment. I volunteer at SPEAK's on-campus garden, where we grow produce to donate to Big Orange Pantry. For my field placement for my BSSW, I am working at the Knox County Juvenile Court doing intake & pre-trial diversion programs. This allows me to gain experience as a social worker in a youth service setting. My next steps after graduating are to obtain a Master's of Science in Social Work to become a clinical social worker in forensics or in child welfare. To me, the connection between Social Work and Political Science is social justice and policy, which are areas where I feel I can make an impact on the world through my career and advocacy.
