Placed through Public Allies Chicago, I continued after the internship's end to help with communication and data efforts, as well as social media and overall design. Outside of social media and powerpoint creation, I designed and published the 2020 Annual Report.

Through this apprenticeship, I have been placed with the nonprofit organization Chicago Learning Exchange. When not "in office" my diverse cohort and I learn from other professionals who are pushing for equity and advocating for under-served communities in weekly Leadership Workshops. We receive continuous training in Restorative Justice and have been prompted to create different Service Projects that will alleviate stressors experienced in various communities during this COVID-19 pandemic.

For the duration of an eight-week school quarter, I was given the chance to embrace France. Working through language barriers and figuring out multiple modes of transportation prove to be an experience that has promoted growth and risk taking. Taking an anthropology and region-specific art history course, I was able to draw meaningful connections between culture and European life.

Studying abroad in a fast-paced 5 week program SCAD offered to Industrial Design Students (yes, I "fought" my way in) proved to be an eye-opening experience. Looking for problems faced in an entire different part of the world was slightly easy... Designing in context to their way of life and culture proved a bit different. Here we learned to innovate in the way Asia is accustomed: gradual additive innovating versus searching for something entirely new. For the project I pursued, such a method proved to be fitting.

I pursued this internship while in anticipation of studying Architecture, now my minor.

This took place during the summer portion of an intimate Day Care, hosting children from pre-kindergarten to those entering fourth grade. As a teacher's aide I assisted with every activity, from recreational monitoring outside, to tutoring with English and Math, to teaching an end-of-program dance. My love for kids grew significantly.
