A 2019 graduate of Trinity University with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology. My specific interests within anthropology include pedagogical and teaching practices, cultural experiences of childhood, and advocating for access to quality education.In the summer of 2017 and 2018, I had the opportunity to be a part of the summer staff at Camp Lone Star where I was able to learn and teach alongside talented, engaging staff and incredible kids. My experiences working at camp have allowed me to display my love for teaching and my ability to foster the joy that comes from learning in an authentic and healthy environment. In the fall of 2018, I was able to further develop my passion for teaching and learning through spending a semester abroad at DIS in Copenhagen, Denmark. While at DIS, I took courses focused on Scandinavian pedagogical practices and Danish public policies surrounding education. I participated in numerous field studies throughout my four and a half months abroad, including spending a week in Helsinki, Finland visiting with Finnish teachers, pedagogues, and educational professionals in and around Helsinki. I also worked as a practicum student in a Danish preschool once a week where I assisted pedagogues with daily tasks and the planning and administering of lessons, but spent the majority of my time learning from and playing with Danish children ages three to six. At Trinity, I was actively involved in my campus InterVarsity fellowship and in the college ministry at First Presbyterian Church here in San Antonio for nearly four years, now. I loved the opportunity to partner with my fellow classmates and my community to impact others through service, collaborative support, and fostering self-growth.
