ARTS 245 | Typographic Design I

The Columbia Film Society (CFS) was a non-profit art house theatre and a media education center that served Columbia, SC, as a center for critical dialogue, anchored by the presentation of films that showcased the diversity, challenges, joy, and aspirations of its community. In 2019, the CFS operated through two organizations— The Nickelodeon Theatre, and the former Indie Grits Labs. From 2007-2019, the CFS was the home to the annual Indie Grits Film Festival--a four-day event that celebrated the visionary, experimental culture of the southeast with film, art, music, and tech.• Managed and executed design projects for the Nickelodeon Theatre and Indie Grits Labs (IGL), including recurring film series, educational programming, institutional fundraisers, annual reports, and marketing campaigns. • Art directed and produced design campaigns annually for the Indie Grits Film Festival. • Produced all festival materials, including digital ads, video preshows, festival guides, and merchandise. • Guided content management, art direction, and design of the Nickelodeon Theatre's quarterly publication, the Nick Mag. • Supervised all marketing and social media year-round for IGL, collaborating with freelancers during festival season. • Troubleshooted coding issues and implemented content updates to the Nickelodeon and IGL websites. • Oversaw team of interns leading up to and during festival season. • Coordinated fundraisers, community events, and satellite events during festival season.

I created bespoke illustrations for Byfarr's branding clients, which were then turned into logos and supplemental icons for branding packages— I also produced illustrations and invitation suite layouts for their wedding stationery clients.

I worked with photographers, writers, and fellow designers to create USC's student-run general interest magazine. I created magazine spreads in a timely and efficient manner, and helped the creative director and art director in determining the overall look of the magazine prior to publication.

During my winter break as an undegrad, I did a two month internship with Motto. I designed social media posts and digital assets for Crown & Buckle—a leather goods and watch strap company from West Palm Beach, Florida. I also helped with designing in-house promotional social media posts and typographical treatments on internal documents.

The Carolina Agency is a student run agency that works with real clients around the Columbia area. I was responsible for creative direction on branding and producing promotional materials for The South Carolina Washington Semester Program. I was also the Account Executive for Reach out and Read, where I provided creative direction to my team members for promotional materials and infographics.
