But to effect lasting change we often have to assist the entire community in order to improve the living environment for children. There is almost a direct correlation to poverty and child neglect abuse in Cambodian communities, so it remains impossible to address one concern without addressing the other.To this end, we created our RDA program specifically to answer the question, “How can we help this community with their immediate needs?” Only about 40% of Cambodian people have access to clean water, while the other 60% have access to unclean water or very far clean water sources. Only about 20% of the Cambodian population has latrines for their home use. Families with vulnerable children have been specifically targeted by our church partners to be beneficiaries of water well or latrine. Kone Kmeng provides them with access to clean water, health care, clothes, etc. In an effort to bring effective improvements, we’ve also implemented family development plans so that families use the water to grow crops so they can feed themselves and their communities for years to come.
