 Manage project teams of up to 8 design technicians at Overgaard Technical Services Inc. Oversee the teams daily work load, when necessary guide technical aspects of their work. Including unitised curtain wall, natural stone, terracotta and metal panel rain-screen support systems. Coordinate with the in-house structural engineer to resolve structural design issues, and address questions highlighted by the project design team. Represent Overgaard at project, web, site and design meetings with architects, main contractors and specialist sub-contractors, giving technical and practical advice as required during any stage of a project. Contract administration and correspondence with clients and customers worldwide on a project and technical level.

 Manage a team of 8 design (Project) technicians at SCHUCO UK head office. Schedule the teams daily work load, when necessary oversee & guide all aspects of their work. Represent SCHÜCO at project, site and design meetings with architects, main contractors and specialist sub-contractors, giving technical and practical advice as required during any stage of a project. Review and countersign Service Engineers site visit reports, stand in or assist with site inspection visits when required. Carry out risk assessments for oversized windows, doors and SG facade fabrication, advise and sanction when appropriate. Identify & arrange individuals training program both internal & external courses, provide guidance and mentoring of technical staff on a daily basis. Determine & manage the annual project office budget. Manage special projects to further enhance and develop the role of the Project Office. Co-ordinate annual leave, monitor sickness, lateness and absence giving interviews when necessary. Interview all new candidates for project office staff. Report monthly to the Technical Dept. Manager on team activity, trends and budget.

Working in Hong Kong, sub-contract designer to Builders Federal

 Worked as a self employed draughtsman for Wintech Ltd. Placed in Builders Federal Hong Kong to assist on various curtain wall and cladding contracts. Answering directly to the project Job Captain my responsibilities were for the production of reference and fabrication drawings, whilst also overseeing and guiding the work of junior members of the design team.

 Produce contract drawings for various projects in a small multidisciplinary practice. Partly a structural engineering consultancy, most of the contracts being based within the construction industry. Projects varying between full curtain walling and roofing design to the design of architectural detail components such as one off die designs for extrusions and ‘feature’ brackets for clients requiring bespoke details for their systems and buildings. Guiding and overseeing junior draughtsman and checking their work before issue to the client.

 Full project responsibility for design, including design programme, preparation of GA’s and section details on CAD through to construction status of windows, doors, curtain walling and rain screen systems, Purchasing of glass & insulated panels etc. Meeting and liaising with client design teams, Architects, Main contractors, Fabricators and Suppliers. Responsible for supervising and guiding junior designers assigned to a contract. Contract administration. Attend site inspections and meetings throughout the contract period.

Served a four-year apprenticeship as a trainee draughtsman with placements in all five engineering departments of the BBC, before settling in the ‘Design and Equipment Department’. Worked as a design draughtsman, liaising with design engineers to produce manufacturing drawings for broadcasting equipment. including mechanical, electrical and electronic details, computer circuit boards, assembly details and full parts lists for one off prototypes and full production runs of broadcasting equipment on a drawing board and later using 2D & 3D CAD.
