I am a graduate of McGill University's Master of Urban Planning program, and a Civil Engineering Bachelor's degree holder. With nearly 5 years of experience in the construction and real estate industry in various global contexts, I am passionate about creating sustainable, livable, and convivial urban neighborhoods that are human-scale, walkable and equitable. My key areas of interest include planning in the global south, coastal cities, green urban practices, sustainable urban development, cities and climate change. I currently work as a Climate Change Research Assistant at McGill University where my research focuses on climate change adaptation, disaster risk response and flood control in Latin America, Quebec, India, Pakistan, Rwanda, Bangladesh, Vietnam and Denmark. As a Civil Engineer, I have garnered experience in cost and quantity estimation, procurement of FIDIC PC/PS items, contract negotiations, and various construction practices. Some of my notable projects during my master's program include assessing the efficacy of sponge cities, analyzing the wide-scale and long-term impacts of engineered and nature-based flood control methods, making cities denser and walkable through zoning and urban design approaches, approaches to densifying suburban neighborhoods, etc. I was also part of a team that consulted with the City of Montreal and Borough of Saint Leonard in preparing a mixed-use transit-oriented redevelopment plan for the Secteur Langelier site in Montreal through policy, zoning, built-form and design recommendations. Furthermore, I am a strong proponent for green infrastructure and sustainable building practices, which I incorporate in my planning approaches. In my free time, I enjoy exploring cuisines and culture, playing with my roommates cat, engaging in stimulating conversations, writing, doing a little DIY, and most of all, caring for my rapidly growing indoor plant collection.
