I lead the product team for Google's production ML SW stack, which run all of Google's AI/ML models on Google's (quite large) ML HW Fleet. We offer an open-source version of our approach through OpenXLA (https://github.com/openxla/xla).Our ML software is used in production for a wide variety of cutting edge ML and computational use cases, from generativeAI (large language models), Waymo's autonomous vehicles, cancer detection, fusion reactor modeling, Nobel Prize-winning protein folding predictions, and many other use cases.

I built products so that Machine Learning Engineers could fast, high quality models into production. I did that by leading the PM/UX team responsible for defining and delivering on our product strategy. Solving our users' need for model performance requires an easy-to-use, Data Scientist-focused product that seamlessly incorporates the best training framework runtimes, hardware vendor accelerator libraries, open-source ML compilation technologies, and containerization and cluster management tools. Our product's foundational pillar is the Apache TVM project, but we also run PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, NVIDIA's CUDA libraries (including TensorRT), and many other CPU-centered acceleration methods, delivering model containers across Python, Linux, and configurable and scalable Docker containers. We treat ML as software and fit our product into DevOps tooling and workflows.A core product hypothesis we have is that making ML easy to use is as important as technical differentiation, so every cutting-edge technology we incorporate starts with a user's problems and their jobs to be done.

Axon's global Product and Design lead across four major product lines (two software, two hardware) and many associated smaller product experiences.Led the launch of Axon's first LTE-connected camera.Led the launch of Axon's first enterprise SaaS product which I originally co-founded (see below).In this role, I led all of Axon’s product teams. To use helpful analogies, the HW products I led are akin to medical devices (Taser) and connected IoT (body and in-car cameras). The SW products I led include a YouTube type product (Evidence.com), a Salesforce type product (Records), and an Uber type product (Dispatch).I was also responsible for leading the cross-product R&D support teams, including Artificial Intelligence, our Platform team, and the Design team, as well as our product teams based in Vietnam.I worked directly with our CEO, COO, and CFO to set capital allocation and define product goals. I personally led driving Axon's product-wide strategy and concomitant individual product strategies. I was a key leader at the executive level as Axon grew 20%+ per year in revenue (to $500M+) and 30% per year in user growth (to 250K+). Launched next-generation hardware device, major upgrades to core SaaS product, and funded and developed 2019 launch strategies for two new $100M+ opportunity enterprise SaaS products, including the product and team I created (see below).

Together with Lead Engineer, co-founded Axon’s first fully enterprise SaaS product line (Axon Records).Conducted hundreds of hours of user and market research, defined 20+ epics to establish MVP, set core value proposition, pricing model, and product strategy, and landed initial development partners to co-create the product.Built and scaled team to 20+ (now 80+) across PM, Design, Engineering, and Services, re-architecting process and organization multiple times to enable growth.In addition to these core responsibilities, I also identified, pitched, funded, and recruited the founding team for Axon's newest SaaS product (Dispatch).Promoted to lead all SW products.

Led acquisition of two companies, in close conjunction with Finance and Legal teams, including negotiating terms, developing implementation plans, and post-merger product strategy.Developed product partnering strategy and signed Axon’s first technology (non-channel) partner.Led negotiations with Azure as Axon shifted from AWS, including long-term pricing structure, international strategy, and support and resources.Led negotiations with Axon’s largest customer to establish move from on-prem to cloud-based product.

Led engagement with consumer-focused major HD manufacturer as it adjusted to changing market dynamics from disk to solid-state.Worked with large cloud, laptop, printer technology company to optimize for growth in cloud services and efficiency in hardware manufacturing.Worked with private sector university to incubate an ed-tech startup focused on adult learning; led product development, customer/user discovery, MVP definition, and initial anchor beta customer strategy with largest entertainment company in the world.
