Dr. Nassar is a Felllow of ASME, John F Dodge Chair of Engineering, and Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Oakland University, Rochester, Michigan. He the Founding Director of its Fastening and Joining Research Institute (FAJRI), and OU site Director (PI) NSF IUCRC-CHMI center for Composite and Hybrid Material Interfacing, in partnership with with sites at Georgia Institute of Technology- Atlanta, Georgia, and the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. at Oakland. His 40+year academic career in the US includes teaching and research in the area of solid mechanics, design, and material joining. He is Editor of the Handbook of Bolts and Bolted Joints and author of numerous ground breaking, peer-reviewed research papers on material fastening and joining. Dr. Nassar is a subject matter expert and consultant to major US and international companies in the automotive, aerospace, and infrastructure sectors.
