National Geospatial And E-Learning Associate (Gis/Rs)
• Develop learning and resource materials on geospatial matters, i.e. in the form of both conventional training materials as in the form of individual e-learning coursework to sustain the agriculture monitoring activities and information produced, as well as the results of the project. • Develop a set of modules and units related to the use and integration of the satellite imagery information and approaches for agriculture survey and monitoring. • Undertake training session on geospatial technology for agriculture information generation and on application of GIS/RS for agriculture monitoring and to utilize geospatial information for producing crop estimation and forecasts reporting.• Support testing of recent high-resolution geospatial information, with focus on the major crops of Afghanistan. • Define the satellite imagery requirements for the generation of the cropland information including the main crop types and the main seasonal crop dynamics based on integration of the remote sensing. • Support the selection and processing of the appropriate remote sensing data to be used for agriculture monitoring. • Work in close collaboration with MAIL and counterpart staff, giving information and providing assistance on the implementation of technical activities related to the remote sensing technology.• Prepare training and workshops materials.• Prepare a detailed technical terminal report describing the activities, results, findings and recommendations.
National Gis/Rs Associate
• Provide on the job training to the staff of DAI/PAIL for crop and related data collection• Ensures that the produced maps meet the requirements of FAO, MAIL and concerned partners. • Conceptualize methodologies for collecting data in the field, as according to need; • Cross check data collected in the field, ensure regular updates and solve eventual discrepancies. • Co-developing GIS components in proposals and supervising the implementation;• Supervising the activities of DAIL/PAIL subordinate GIS staff, including GIS assistants and interns. • Ensure the capitalization of tools and procedures related to mapping and databases.• Contribute towards the identification and implementation of effective and adapted technical solutions and partnerships.• Respond to information requests from FAO, MAIL and its partners.• Support the improvement of the Afghanistan Agriculture Information Portal and the geodatabase enhancement.• Support the development of standardized data formats with adequate metadata to be included in the portals and systems. • Work in close collaboration with MAIL and counterpart staff, giving information and providing guidance on the implementation of technical activities.• Undertake trainings and workshops for the national institutions on GIS/database and modelling. • Support the development of documentation and manuals for GIS/RS applications
