The purpose of this role is to work closely with stakeholders across the University to implement and review all policies and processes concerning Tier 4 sponsor duties to the Home Office (an arm of the UK government responsible for internal affairs). This includes assessing and advising on the eligibility for Tier 4 sponsorship of prospective and current students and maintaining up-to-date audit trails and records for all Tier 4 Students registered at the University.

London Borough of Lambeth Council is a statutory body and I worked for what was essentially the education department in a small team that was called Ethnic Minority Achievement Team. My remit was to work in partnership with mainstream schools, parents, pupils and local community associations in order to help raise the educational attainment levels of Somali heritage students in Lambeth schools both primary and secondary.

My role there comprised of been responsible for the welfare of students, who were either refugees or asylum seekers some of who were unaccompanied minors. I was responsible for their induction into the UK education system and taught them for the sixth months in small groups. There after I mentored and liaised with their families or carers, teachers, Home Office and other agencies both statutory and non staturory with whom they might have had some dealings with.
