In my role as Accounting Manager, I support the Director of Finance in ensuring the smooth operation of the department, managing key financial processes, and driving improvements in efficiency and compliance:Accounts Payable (AP)• Reviewed, adjusted, and posted AP batches for accuracy and timely processing.• Managed AP payments and vendor notifications during AP Specialist’s absence.• Ensured compliance with 3-way matching for accurate invoice approvals.• Led ExpensePoint implementation, streamlining expense reporting.Accounts Receivable (AR)• Used self-deposit scanner for efficient customer check deposits.• Entered and posted AR receipt batches, maintaining current records.• Reviewed and posted monthly invoices for timely billing.Inventory Management• Conducted cycle counts and posted adjustments for accurate records.Month-End Close• Prepared monthly revenue recognition through a combination of Power BI and VBA.• Reconciled key balance sheet accounts.• Handled statutory filings, including HST and WSIB.• Identified and booked necessary adjusting entries to maintain accurate financial records.Process Automation & Optimization• Developed Excel VBA models to automate Sage 300 report formatting.• Built a Power BI model integrating data sources to streamline revenue recognition.• Created Power Automate workflows for automatic file organization in OneDrive.• Conducted process mapping for various revenue streams (builder, retail, dealer), identifying control gaps and implementing targeted control points to ensure accurate revenue recognition and strengthen financial integrity.Other Key Contributions• Assisted in biweekly cash flow forecasting and supported budgeting.Cross-Departmental Collaboration• Worked with departments to ensure data accuracy, minimizing variances and improving reconciliation.
