Nicaragua

ICS is a development project funded by the UK government; it enables young people to volunteer outside of the EU through registered charities. I volunteered with Progressio, stationed in El Bramadero, a rural village in Nicaragua. During the placement we constructed eco-stoves, eco-ovens, distributed fruit trees, taught daily English classes, held 10 learning workshops for the local volunteers and held 4 community events. I was the Monitoring & Evaluation Officer responsible for recording all our progress.

ERL is an award-winning agency covering permanent and contract positions across Europe, specialising in niche technologies for Semiconductor, Automotive and Telecom industries. I worked toward challenging yearly, quarterly, monthly and daily targets as an individual and as part of a team. I was responsible for sourcing and closing candidates, preparing them for interviews and negotiations, with the candidate and the client, upon receiving a job offer. I also managed 2 accounts, one in the UK and one in Austria, and would proactively try to develop new business. I was awarded ‘2014 Consultant of the Year’, earned a place on a Lunch Club (June 2014) and represented ERL at a recruitment fair in Malmo, Sweden (2015).

During the 14 week intensive Yacht Master Offshore course I spent 62 days afloat, sailed more than 2,500 tidal miles, skippered a 68.5.
