How and why did I become a commercial litigator?I started out as a self-taught computer tech when I was 15. Soon thereafter, I found a position at Nortel, where I taught myself computer networking skills, and, over the course of 7 years, held a number of positions until I became a sales engineer and subject-matter expert for several key technologies. I was the bridge between clients (who wanted the moon), sales people (who would sell the moon), and engineers (who thought of clients as unicorns). In parallel, I completed a Bachelor of Communications Engineering degree with high distinction at Carleton University.Eventually I trading skates for skis, I moved from Ottawa to Vancouver. After seven years in R&D, a year in IT as a senior network engineer for a major investment firm convinced me that life holds more in store. Concluding that blood makes me queasy, and one is never too old for an MBA, I started an LL.B. at UBC. Over the next three years, I ran a successful legal research business, finished at the top of my class, and spent a year clerking for the BC Supreme Court. Finally facing the real world again, I joined a major regional firm in its Business Litigation and IP Departments. There, I was trained by some of the best business litigators in the city and became a Partner. Deciding that, once again, an exciting change is in order, I founded Fraser Litigation Group with my partners Barry Fraser, Oliver Hanson, Michelle Tribe, and Neo TuytelWhy Fraser Litigation Group?
