Sumant is an entrepreneur working in the exciting field of 3D bio-printing, medical and industrial automation and other rapid prototyping technologies. Alfatek Systems is the market leader in 3D bio-printing in India, builds customized and reliable 3D printers and medical R&D equipment, and works with the biggest R&D institutions - AIIMS, IITs, CSIR labs, and the largest Indian engineering companies - ITC, Tata Steel, L&T. Alfatek has been featured multiple times in media outlets like Times of India, Dainik Jagran, CNBC TV, India Today TV, etc, and has been selected amongst the top 10 start-ups in IIT2020 Startup Spotlight organized by pan-IIT USA.Sumant currently works as CEO and founder at Alfatek Systems, and together with his team, has played an important role in making Alfatek synonymous with quality and reliability in more than 150 R&D labs in India. In his previous corporate avataar, Sumant has worked in US, Europe, and Singapore in various engineering, management and finance roles. In his last corporate engineering role in Virginia, USA, Sumant worked in product engineering at Micron Technologies, a $21 bn US manufacturer of DRAM and NAND Flash chips. Sumant ended his formal education with an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad and was an institute scholar, ranking in the top 3% of his class. His master's thesis in electrical engineering at Arizona State University, USA led to an IEEE conference paper on VLSI CAD systems for portable battery devices. He completed his B Tech in Electronics & ECE from IIT KGP. Sumant has co-authored more than 4 international journal publications in 3D bio-printing and serves as a reviewer in various journals from Taylor Francis, SBAO, Academia. He also plays an active role in various Indian Govt initiatives like SIH-Hardware Hackathon, and is an organizing committee member in IIM alumni Kolkata chapter.
