The International Finance Corporation (IFC – World Bank) and Harakat-AICFO have collaborated on a new initiative titled “Private Sector Forum” to empower and support the Afghan private sector. The project aims to strengthen the existing coordination mechanisms and help prioritize major issues faced by the Afghan private sector. The forum will also support the private sector in identifying challenges and promoting reforms and solutions through engagement with various government departments as well as other national and international private sector organizations including International Development Agencies (IDAs).

- Ensured that activities are being coordinated among the three Trade Policy Directorates and other key internal and external stakeholders such as the Afghan Parliament, Afghan Cabinet, and Council of Ministers, the office of the Afghan President, and international partners such as the USAID, World Bank, and International Trade Center.- Developed strategy, roadmap, and bench-marks to improve the trade balance of Afghanistan by achieving MoIC’s export targets of $1 Billion (2019-achieved), $1.5 Billion (2020) and $2 Billion (2021)- Led the successful implementation of Afghanistan’s post-accession strategy at the WTO as well as the benchmarks under Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA)- Developed a policy framework for Afghanistan’s trade and transit connectivity agenda- Organized quarterly meetings of the inter-ministerial National Trade Facilitation Committee (NTFC) as well as National Export Strategy (NES) Board- Developed analysis memos on APTTA, PTA and other trade/investment issues between Afghanistan & Pakistan as well as a negotiation strategy for the Government of Afghanistan (approved by H.E. the President)- Attended and contributed to the relevant meetings of the Cabinet, Council of Ministers, the Afghan Parliament and office of the President- Coordinated strategic business efforts with Afghanistan’s mission at the WTO and other key relevant international and national partners and client organizations- Ensured that the Trade & Transit Policy and WTO Affairs units manage their activities according to their annual plan, operational procedures, and budget- Assisted the Chief of Staff office to plan, organize and coordinate official trips/visits and contributed to the policy memos and follow up mechanisms

Afghanistan Investment Support Agency (AISA) was an affiliated body of the Ministry of Commerce & Industries and it served as a secretariat to the High Commission on Investment (HCI). Comprised of cabinet members and chaired by Minister of Commerce, the commission reported to the office of the Afghan President.
