SCS is a magnet program in Durham Public Schools. The curriculum is founded on four C’s – creativity, communication, collaboration, and community partnerships. The development of these skills sets are integrated into all coursework as well as the focus of unique elective offerings. SCS has two fully equipped professional recording studios (broadcast and audio) and an Artist-in-Residence program. • Managed district community relations and partnerships.• Provided leadership in the organization and planning for 20+ annual district events and ceremonies.• Assisted the Chief Communications Officer with development of internal and external communications and publications.• Interim manager, during Chief Communications Officer transitions - Webmaster, Director of Public Information,Translator/Interpreter, Marketing/Communications Specialist, Community Engagement Liaison, Multi-Media Specialist.

• Developed, promoted and evaluated the volunteer programs for 56 elementary, middle and high schools.• Provided training, guidelines and materials for supervision of volunteers including criminal background check procedures.• Processed applications for 6000+ volunteers annually and provide high-level customer service.• Compiled marketing materials for the volunteer web site, volunteer recruitment and newsletters.• Promoted the volunteer program through liaison activities with civic and community groups.• Fostered community partnerships and collaborations with community organizations.
