Samantha is a climate change adaptation and development specialist with over 19 years’ experience in climate change impact, vulnerability and adaptation assessment. To date, her work has included: the design and review of climate change adaptation plans and planning tools (including various vulnerability and risk assessment methodologies); the design of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems for climate change and disaster risk reduction programmes; and the facilitation of workshops, forums, focus groups, and other participatory processes when planning for adaptation. A skilled facilitator, Samantha has also designed and delivered a number of trainings, training-of-trainers, technical workshops, and other learning events for a wide variety of audiences. She has trained community-based and local organizations on the use of climate vulnerability, risk and capacity assessment tools, as well as the use of participatory scenario development to inform local and national adaptation planning activities. Samantha has led a number of international climate change adaptation projects in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. She has advised a variety of development partners on climate change adaptation including the World Bank, African Development Bank, the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR), UNDP, Global Affairs Canada (GAC, formerly CIDA), as well as a number of national and international NGOs (IISD, CARE, Oxfam, WaterAid, Equality Fund, Global Alliance for Green and Gender Action). Fluent in English and proficient in French, she has a M.Sc. (distinction) from the University of Oxford in water resource management and international development.
