About Susan Bonesteel Harriman, M.Ed.

More than 32 years' leadership experience as an educator and advocate for all students. Previously the executive director of ForwARd Arkansas, leading the collective, statewide action necessary to realize the vision of ForwARd that every Arkansan will graduate high school prepared for college and the workplace.Developed and implemented systems change initiatives at multiple levels, including establishing a sustainable, scalable, equitable broadband infrastructure solution for schools, teaching in the high school classroom, directing a high school instructional division for a large public school system, coordination articulation in a region with a community college system, and managing and advocating at the state, regional, and national levels.Previously served as the policy and special projects director at the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE). Developing a statewide STEM initiative that includes New Tech Network, Project Lead the Way, EAST Core and UTeach teacher preparation programs, such as UALRTeach, UAteach and UCA STEMteach, that are preparing qualified STEM and computer science teachers throughout the state. Also also helped managed the No Kid Hungry campaign, Act 1181 for improving state government efficiencies and other initiatives.Prior to working at ADE, served as the director of state services at the National Center for Education Achievement, the Secretary’s Regional Representative at the U.S. Department of Education and founding executive director at the Texas Public Education Reform Foundation.
