As a Senior Process Optimisation Engineer and subject matter expert (SME), I am responsible for the successful delivery of Advanced Solutions engineering support services to Honeywell clients in the Pacific region.Some of the key highlights and duties in this role are: * Develop and commission new Advanced Solutions for clients utilising the Honeywell product suite. * Provide on-site Advanced Process Control (APC) support for all the Anglo American Steel making coal sites across Australia. * Do pre-feasibility testing of APC's by simulating the controller performance using the site OTS/Digital twin. * Conduct post-audit benefit studies to quantify the value of commissioned APC's. * Mentor intermediate and graduate support engineers.

My responsibilities in this role include: • Develop new Honeywell Profit RMPCT model predictive controllers and plant wide optimizers for various Anglo American sites and subsidiaries across the globe. • MPC performance monitoring and tuning/revamping of bad actors. • Upgrading automated APC controller utilisation PowerBI reports.• Provide MPC support at the Anglo American Integrated Expertise Centre.

Lead advanced process control engineer for the Sasol synthetic oils western refinery units. The responsibilities for this role are: • Plant support to achieve optimal production through APC’s.• Feasibility studies for new and existing advanced controllers.• Design and implementation of new advanced process controllers (Honeywell profit controllers).• Soft-sensor design and process modelling using first-principle and data-driven methods. • Develop new baselayer and advanced regulatory control schemes.• Develop auxiliary digitalisation tools to reduce APC development time and automate APC monitoring and reporting.• Effective communication and reporting (written and verbal).• Standby and after-hours technical support for the integrated plant-wide control scheme implemented on the Sasol gas circuit. • Supervision and coaching of younger engineers.Some highlights while in this position: • Increased company baseline earnings with new APC’s.• Completed the Sasol graduate development programme. • Control and instrumentation engineer for the execution of a system replacement project (3000 IO with Honeywell Experion C300 DCS). • Independently developed the following software: - StepGen: a solution which can automatically extract step data from large datasets to fit empirical models. The tool has an intuitive web based front end and formats the data so that it can be imported directly into Honeywell Profit Suite Engineering Studio. The tool allows a user to quickly generate seed models and reduces controller development time. -Procade: a web-based operator training simulator. -APC Insight: a fully automated APC monitoring tool which tracks the performance of each APC. The tool is used for technical reporting by engineers and KPI reporting by management. It enables a large user-base with a web based front-end and Microsoft PowerBI front-end.
