This role required outstanding operational knowledge and management of the commercial and contractual relationship with BOC, plus operational compliance, analytics and reporting, financial and operational performance, budgeting and business planning.My responsibilities included overseeing a fleet of 42 bulk tankers across five depots, approximately $30 million in annual revenue, more than 90 drivers and six direct reports. I took responsibility for all aspects of contract performance: Revenue, financial results (Return on Capital and EBIT), safety, operational performance, account management, contract compliance etc. I also had a focus on building commercial capability, resolution of invoicing disputes and a contract renewal project.During my time in this role, I improved contract management processes via regular review meetings and was able to improve data accuracy. I developed and managed customer relationships at all levels, including senior executives, operations, commercial.

As National Commercial Manager for Bulk Liquids and Gas, my focus was on analytics, pricing, interpreting technical data and applying its analysis to business operations. I had full accountability for Commercial Function, including cost model design, tender management, contract negotiations, commercial disputes and business analytics. My regular duties included internal and external reporting, contract review, elements of IT management and business development. The total value of the contract I oversaw was circa $150 million per annum. A multi-faceted role, this position included the negotiation of contracts with major outlets including Shell, BP, Caltex and more. I developed business cases for capital investment and coordinated the due diligence process, commercial review, amongst many other responsibilities. Leading a team of six, I developed and implemented a new-to-company tender response process, which provided the information link between Business Development, Commercial, Operations and the customer. As a result of my involvement, the tender success rate increased from 10% to 25%.

This technical role covered complex analytics, margin and profit-loss analysis. Responsibilities included designing and developing cost models for both Fuel and Gas transport. I conducted cost analysis for existing contracts and new business opportunities, while also performing contract and customer profitability analysis.Creating tender cost models was a part of this position at Toll Group. I also took on responsibility for analysing the company’s financial performance and budget comparison, generating weekly commentaries. Along with daily and weekly checks to ensure revenue and cost assurance, and the development and distribution of management and operational reports, I managed multiple process improvement projects and participated in budget preparation.
