I have over 30 years of water resources, consulting engineering, and product development/manufacturing and sales experience. I am honoured to be a past president of the Canadian Water Resources Association (CWRA). I am a founding partner of CB Shield Inc. which is a clean tech firm that develops and manufactures stormwater quality treatment devices. I provide engineering and water resources services through my firm Vanguard Water Inc. which holds a Certificate of Authorization from Professional Engineers Ontario. My main areas of expertise are stormwater management, water quality design, and urban flood mitigation. I am keenly interested in alternative stormwater treatment methodologies, including their integration within Green Infrastructure approaches and Natural Infrastructure. I'm the co-inventor of three commercially available and patented stormwater treatment devices (CB Shield®, SWM Shield™, Jellyfish Filter®). As a water resources engineer and during my time with larger consulting firms, I have acted as a designer, peer reviewer, expert witness, technical presenter, and engineer of record for many large projects. I have led environmental assessments, land development projects, and creek rehabilitation projects. I have guided projects from their initial planning stages through to final design, approvals, construction, and assumption/monitoring. I have good experience managing projects and providing technical advice in the areas of hydrologic modelling, hydraulic modelling, flood line definition and policy, valley corridor and watercourse restoration, urban flood remediation, and municipal servicing and drainage design. I've worked on many interesting drainage studies, traditional flood plain mapping studies, 2D flood plain and urban flooding studies, city-wide sewer network analyses, large site designs, road and highway drainage studies, and multi-disciplinary environmental implementation studies and designs. My expertise also includes preparation of reports and other expert advice used as the basis for obtaining positive legal outcomes.
