Compli sells a web-based compliance management system used by companies to track policy sign-offs, trainings, and forms required of employees. The application is useful in highly regulated industries where costs associated with litigation and fines are high. In late 2004, Compli sold to clients in 18 different industry segments (verticals) and was finding it challenging to achieve consistent growth. I led a focused, single industry strategy combined with a strategic sales training program and effective use of a great CRM system (salesforce.com)In only two years of focusing on Automotive Dealerships, Compli added almost 400 dealerships as clients and revenues grew 175% in 2005 and an additional 35% in 2006. Compli now has a national sales team and is poised to be the product leader in this market.I consider my two+ years at Compli to have been one of the most productive and satisfying in my professional career. If I could give myself a grade, this one gets an A+

OK, so at some point, everybody thinks they're a consultant. I spent a couple of years in here doing contract work for clients building sales organizations and positioning products for market. From product concept to delivery on the marketing front to installing and customizing CRM's on the sales side, I worked with about 10 clients in this time period and did a little decompressing after having survived the 90'sI take great pride in seeing my experience transfer to a client and generate success.

Zeeks was a spin-off from Pierian Spring and took a new direction. Still focusing on the youth-teen market, Zeeks pursued an on-line kids entertainment strategy (as opposed to education) and quickly became one of the top kids destinations on the web. By the end of 1997, Zeeks.com had over 300,000 members of the Zeeks club who played games, chatted in monitored safe chat rooms, sent greeting cards, and buddy list e-mails to their friends. We developed a unique "Zeek-Points" program where earned points could be redeemed for prizes and merchandise of the corporate sponsors who paid for advertising and sponsorships on the site.Zeeks partnered with many of the major entertainment companies such as Sony Pictures, Warner Bros. and Disney as well as major consumer products companies like General Mills and Heinz Foods.Zeeks was sold to one of its entertainment partners. Zeeks.com was the content spin-off of Pierian Spring, Webfinity Studios was the technology equivalent. Webfinity was one of the very first source code licensees of Java and built a browser/editor for use by teachers and kids who wanted to build web-based content,rich in media and interactivity, without learning programming or HTML.Remember HotJava and JavaBeans? Webfinity was up to its eyeballs in the early days of "write once, run anywhere" and I toured the world in late 1997 with Sun Microsystems and their "Road to Education in Java" Beijing, Berlin, Amsterdam and S.America were all destinations in those heady days when "thin" clients were the vision for classrooms and touted as the "Microsoft Killer"....nuff said.

Pierian Spring (The mythical source of human knowledge) was my first start-up. From two employees we built Pierian to over 80 employees within 4 years. We developed and sold educational software to schools (K-12) during the early-mid 90's when technology like CD-ROM and 4MB RAM were sweeping into classrooms by the thousands. Initially, a Macintosh shop, Pierian eventually shipped over 20 products and sold to 14,000 schools in the US, Europe, and Australia. Distribution and content partnerships were built and maintained with companies like Apple, Sun, Microsoft, Compaq, Scott Foresmann Addison Wesley, Houghton Mifflin, and others.Perhaps our proudest moment was in 1994 when we won the EDDY Award for Best New Multimedia Software from Mac User magazine.
