Stephen serves as The Executive Director of the Connection Science and Human Dynamics programs at MIT. He has responsibility for managing a group of faculty, staff and students in creating an innovation-centric culture, to produce great research. He handles the front of the house, as an interface to external stakeholders and the public to increases awareness of, and engagement in, our programs, initiatives, and projects. The MIT Connection Science and Human Dynamics programs includes a portfolio of three individual initiatives; the “Social Physics Consortium”, “Living Labs”, and the “Trust :: Data Consortium. It also includes 13 individual field projects in Andorra, Italy, Istanbul, Beijing, and Bogota, software development for “Enigma”, “CoreID”, and OPAL, as well as projects in computational law, digital governance, social commerce, and, innovation.About the Connection Science ProgramThe internationally-acclaimed MIT Connection Science program gives organizations hands-on experience and open-source software/hardware that enables your use of the world’s most advanced and data acquisition and analysis techniques.About the Human Dynamics Program:The Human Dynamics program at the MIT Media Laboratories pioneered the idea of a society enabled by Big Data. The Lab has developed technologies such as reality mining, which uses mobile phone data to extract patterns that predict future human behavior, a `nervous system’ framework for dramatically more efficient transportation, health, energy, and financial systems, the New Deal on Data policies which are now enshrined in the US Consumer Privacy Bill of Rights, and a Trust Network communication architecture that ensures that this new data driven society is secure and fair.

At the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, a key management lead, with responsibility for managing a team of software engineers, creating an innovation-centric culture, to produce robust implementations of research software. Liaising with key external stakeholders, to increases awareness of, and engagement in, the BigData Initiative. The Technical Director speaks at internal/external conferences and symposia, highlighting the benefits of adopting MIT developed systems and software for big data, analytics, interchange and privacy. He collaborates with experts from academia, industry, and government on development initiatives and assists in fundraising and member recruitment. The Technical Director works effectively with open source organizations and foundations and prepares best practices for ensuring technology transfer and the formation of vibrant open source communities.

Reporting to the CIO, $12M annual budget and 87 person organization. Steve had overall responsibility for enterprise software development and integration, mobile application development, application maintenance, quality and assurance, user Interface design and development, software release, and training.He is responsible for pioneering the Mobile APIs, OpenID Connect, and Drupal Cloud platforms at MIT.

The mission for the Kerberos Consortium is to establish Kerberos as the universal single sign-on solution for the world's computer networks. Building upon the existing Kerberos protocol suite, we will develop interoperable technologies (specifications, software, documentation and tools) to enable organizations and federated realms of organizations to use Kerberos as the single sign-on solution for access to all applications and services. We will also promote the adoption of these technologies so that ultimately all operating systems, applications, imbedded devices, and Internet-based services can utilize Kerberos for authentication and authorization.More on our web site at http://www.kerberos.org
