Mar 2021 - Jan 2022

Research Assistant

Greater Philadelphia Area

I was excited to be able to lead a research project that can combine my passion for water treatment and applied engineering. This project focused on developing functional 2-D metal carbide nanomaterials (MXenes) for electrochemical removal of salts using capacitive deionization (CDI) to purify water. In collaboration with international researchers and Drexel members focused on water treatment and energy storage, we were able to explore innovative ideas based on gaps in research and execute a novel approach to CDI system design. A summary of results and opportunities for use was compiled into a recently submitted manuscript (2020).

Sep 2017 - Mar 2020

Graduate Writing Consultant

This role was an opportunity to collaborate with my peers to develop their technical and non-technical writing, motivated by my belief in the power of cohesion and resonance in telling a story. I worked to provide individualized support and feedback on the writing projects of other graduate students, varying in levels and disciplines, through one-on-one consultation sessions via the Drexel Writing Center.

Oct 2019 - Dec 2019

Honors Thesis Candidate

This project was a continuation of my early undergraduate research investigating the mechanical integrity and design flexibility of customized parts. The purpose of the work was to develop a foundation of research in the form of a written thesis to aid in the future investigation of the interfacial morphology of 3D printed laminar composites (as a function of particle diameter ration, volume fraction and the resulting effect on microhardness profile).Title: “The Effect of Volume Fraction in Binary Mixtures of Hard Spheres on Density and Microhardness in 3D Printed Metal Matrices”I analyzed the effect of volume fraction of different sized stainless-steel powder particles on the overall packing density in different compositions of 3D inkjet printed parts.

Aug 2016 - May 2017

Teaching Assistant

I had the privilege of working directly with first-year engineering students to inspire the applications of nanotechnology for this introductory engineering course. My tasks included organizing and preparing laboratory experiments around photolithography, soft lithography, and 3D printing. I worked in the background to fabricate over 80 students’ designs using photolithography for a microfluidics project, providing personalized feedback to students.

Aug 2014 - Dec 2015

Excel Research Scholar

Easton, Pennsylvania

This project was done to assist a global leader in additive manufacturing in improving one of their major commercial products. Some of my tasks included: 1. Conducting experiments to determine the optimal range of polymer concentration for binder jetting. I achieved this task by evaluating the relationship between polymer concentration in the binder and its thermo-physical properties. 2. Assessing the quality of metal 3D printed parts by determining the feature resolution using SEM and the green state part strength through mechanical testing.3. Managing regular maintenance and troubleshooting essential machinery.
